THE DESIGNER
Sára Luca Aczél is a recent graduate from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) in Budapest, where she earned her BA in Fashion and Knitwear Design. During her studies, she gained valuable experience as an intern at Daige, a well-known Hungarian fashion brand. Sára is passionate about costume design, where she skillfully combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics. Her work reflects a deep understanding of fabric manipulation and attention to detail. Sára's designs often explore the relationship between body and garment, creating pieces that are both visually striking and conceptually rich. She is now eager to bring her innovative approach to costume design in various creative projects. With a strong foundation in knitwear and a unique vision, Sára is poised to make a significant impact in the world of costume design.
THE COLLECTION
The central theme of the designer's thesis is freedom and the desire for freedom. Her collections represent the stages of a liberation process, starting from the character of an oppressed or oppressor. The notion of freedom can be interpreted in both an objective and a subjective way: not only can we be inhibited by our external circumstances, but we often set limits for ourselves. Judit Reigl's work is closely related to her concept: the desire for freedom is one of the primary (creative) motivations of the painter. Two of her series, Homme and Guano, have inspired her along the lines of design. The former series is more theoretically connected: its focus is on the man (Homme), just as pursuing freedom is centered on the man himself. The Guano series on the other hand was aesthetically defining for the designer: the paintings Reigl had once used as studio floor coverings, which she had considered to be bad, were brought back into the role of art by the artist's returning them to her pintings, continuing to work on them. The layered canvases produced a beautiful uneven surface. She has also tried to encourage this experimental approach as part of the project.
