LUCA BATKE

THE DESIGNER

Luca Batke graduated with a master’s degree in fashion from MOME in 2022. During university, she aimed to build a portfolio that encapsulates her interests in fashion and textile design, showcasing the various directions she explored. She believes that university is a great opportunity for individuals to unfold and experiment in an inspiring environment. Unfortunately, she feels that she couldn’t fully take advantage of this opportunity. Now, after completing her studies, she feels truly motivated to create.

THE COLLECTION

The goal of the collection, titled “Unveiled Structure,” is to explore and represent the structure of clothing. The metal-framed furniture of Japanese designer Shiro Kuramata served as the inspiration for the collection. The unique lines of the artist's furniture are reflected in the cut lines, which aim to create new forms and unconventional tailoring solutions.

Shiro Kuramata once said, “The silhouette is important, but the inner lines are just as essential.”

The offset components hint at the method of assembly, emphasizing the construction of the garment. Since functionality plays a crucial role in all of Kuramata's works, the collection was designed with wearability in mind, ensuring that these offset elements remain within the realm of practicality. The individual pieces in the collection are easily combinable with one another, further enhancing their wearability. The colors and textured fabrics evoke the works of the Japanese artist.
