NAGY REGINA

THE DESIGNER

Regina Nagy is a seventh-semester student at the Rejtő Sándor Faculty of Light Industry and Environmental Engineering at Óbuda University, majoring in Industrial Product and Design Engineering. During her studies, she chose the product design specialization, focusing on interior and fashion design.

Her first fashion design project was to create and realize an "I" silhouette dress inspired by the Art Deco era. In the previous semester, she and her peers designed a resort clothing collection with Korond pattern inspirations. The completed garments were showcased in a self-organized fashion show held in the spacious atrium of the university.

THE COLLECTION

Within a school project, she created a resort collection utilizing and reinterpreting the motifs of Korond folk art. The project included pattern design, collection design, and the creation of two selected outfits chosen by the project supervisors. The completed collection was ultimately showcased at a fashion show organized by the department, where the designer students played a significant role in the event's execution.

In her design process, she aimed for simple shapes, a clean color palette, and consistent use of materials. Her collection, consisting of three women's looks, represents casual elegance and can be easily integrated into a spring-summer wardrobe. Images of the collection are attached.

First design:  Blouse + Skirt (yellow-purple pattern)

One of the most prominent elements of Korond folk motifs is the bird motif. When designing the patterns, simplifying and stylizing the symbols was crucial. This led to the creation of her bird motif, of several distinct curved pattern elements. The simple pattern and clean material choice convey airiness and lightness. The twist lies in the hand-painted design, ensuring that no two birds on the garments are identical.

Second design: Top + Skirt (yellow-bronze pattern)

The white summer set consists of a tie-neck top and a midi skirt, distinguished by hand-painted sun motifs. The yellow sun patterns are highlighted with bronze paint, giving the outfit an even more radiant and elegant appearance. These cheerful garments can also stand alone as unique pieces in a summer wardrobe.

Third design: Blouse + Pants (dark blue pattern)

The three resort sets share the same base material, but the third look breaks the previously established patterning technique. The combination of white and dark blue not only creates an elegant color scheme but also reflects the traditional color palette of Korond. The simplified folk flower motif appears on the side-slit pants and the cropped blouse.
