THE DESIGNER
Nika Ravnik (1981) is a fashion and costume designer who pays special attention researching the structure and shape of clothing. She graduated in Fashion and Textile Design from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering at the University of Ljubljana. She upgraded her education at Central Saint Martin’s school of Art and Design in London and at Designskolen Kolding in Denmark. Nika showcased her graduate collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week (2007) and has since been awarded by Goethe – Institut Ljubljana as a young talented designer (2009), selected to showcase at London Fashion Week as an Emerging and Independent Designer (2010), nominated for British Council‘s Young Creative Fashion Entrepreneur Award (2011), showcased at Fashionclash festival in Maastricht (2011), selected to represent the Balkan region at Berlin Fashion Week (2018), awarded with the BIG SEE Fashion Design Award (2023). Her work is regularly shown at fashion weeks, exhibitions and published in magazines, in Slovenia and abroad. Nika works as a freelance designer, stylist and costume designer based in Ljubljana, and is also a member of the Galerija GT Cultural Society.
THE BRAND
Nika Ravnik is a womenswear brand, established in 2009. The brand’s ethos is sustainably oriented, focusing on mindful design approach, such as the "zero-waste" principle, the "one-size-fits-all" concept and the principle of versatility. Simple geometric shapes form the basis of garments, which are transformed into authentic wearable creations through experimentation and manipulation of details. Following a conceptual aspect the aesthetics reflects a touch of avant-garde and timelessness.
THE COLLECTION
"Fragments" is a fashion collection that transforms the remnants of textiles into innovative and sustainable fabrics. This collection draws inspiration from the principles of architecture, art, and interactive exhibition design to create a multifaceted fashion experience. Each garment is a unique piece, crafted from leftover fabrics, embodying the stories of the past and the promise of new beginnings.
