THE DESIGNER
Designer Szonja Lang established her 20-year presence in the international fashion industry by winning the ISPO BrandNew Award in 2006 after finishing her studies in Vienna, where she graduated as knitwear designer. With her functional, sporty, women's and men's product collections, she regularly participated in Berlin, Barcelona, New York and Vienna fashion weeks with a booth or fashion show.
Szonja has designed clothing collections for several domestic brands, as well as representing international textile companies as designer of clothing accessories throughout Asia. In addition, several multinational companies were also involved in the design and construction of uniforms and work clothes.
The designer has a passion for cars, which is why she creates clothing, bags and shoes from automotive by-products, such as deactivated airbags, seat belts, seat upholstery and unsellable tires, together with cooperation partners active in the industry.
In 2024, Szonja's many years of work were also awarded in Hungary with the Fashionawards Discovery of the Year award in sustainable fashion. As a committed textile sustainability expert, she regularly participates and lectures at events in Hong Kong and Vienna. She has deep connections with recycling institutions in Asia, which is considered a stronghold of the topic. The designer is an expert in the virtual display of fashion and is currently working with her cooperation partners on the development of body scanner photography technology. The goal is to create user-friendly and super-fast use of 3D technology.
THE BRAND
The SLANGSLANG brand was presented as the successor to the Tyra Clothing brand in 2011 at the New York Fashion Week Nolcha event. The target group is the lovers of vibrant, characterful cut lines. For those who value comfort and functionality, as well as care about sustainability in fashion, they can choose from great clothes, bags and shoes from the portfolio.
A special feature of capsule collections made with contemporary visual artists and co-creators is that the raw materials used are partly from recycled marine plastic. Our basic collections are also strongly based on graphic elements, they contain coordinated women's, men's and unisex pieces, which are also made with a focus on reducing the ecological footprint.
Morphosis x SLANGSLANG, the footwear collection with soles made from the tread of non-commercial tires formed as a by-product, made its debut at the Milan Design Week. In collaboration with SLANGSLANG x Back2Bag, bag and jacket collections have been made from deactivated airbags, seat belts, and seat upholstery for years. Several high-end automotive players have already chosen from this collection. Some are standard equipment in new cars. Continuing the idea of recycling, the new collections include products made from used sails and pieces made from tailoring wool scraps. Of course, combined with the latest technological processes. The brand considers social responsibility in terms of sustainability to be its mission, so it organizes workshops in order to educate the target group about the textile industry. We believe that global thinking and local actions help to reduce the ecological footprint.
