SOPHIARON

THE DESIGNER

Nóra, a craftsman-loving designer, immersed herself in the preservation of Hungarian traditions at a young age. Then, over the years, her fascination for traditional dressing grew into a deep respect, and it became her mission to find ways to preserve her heritage in today's fast-paced world. This is how the reinterpretation of Hungarian peasant culture in a modern context was born at SOPHIARON.

THE BRAND

SOPHIARON is an independent European clothing brand founded in 2022 by Nóra Zsófia Szarka to create a brand that features bold yet timeless pieces designed to make each wearer find their roots at home.

In each garment, silhouettes meet hand-crafted details, and the fragile beauty of inherited dressmaking techniques is transformed into something exciting. All garments are environmentally conscious and ethically made in Hungary. The designer uses organic and recycled materials.

SOPHIARON's mission is to create durable, timeless clothes, showing the way to the future with the heritage of the past.

THE COLLECTION

My Women's-Men's collection is called HERITAGE. These symbols shape people in their everyday lives, which they always carry with them and thus shape them. As a Hungarian fashion designer, I want to express my own heritage through myself. Due to industrialization and globalization, traditional textiles and artisanal regional products have also been pushed out of the fashion industry.

My mission is to bring this artisanal culture back to our consumer society, together with the traditions of my environment, and make it relevant in our modern lifestyle. I designed the clothes for people who are not afraid to show where they came from and what their main roots are. They trust their own environment, thus preserving their traditions and profession for posterity.

The main motif and starting point of my collection is the region, clothing, and customs of my native village of Dömsöd. I primarily looked for photo collections in local museums, and that's where I started my research. It was very exciting to discover how tradition can connect people. I want to portray this unity in my silhouettes, where values forgotten in today's world are commemorated again.
